Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy
"Embrace its gentle lessons, savor its sublime common sense, dare to live its passionate truth, and share its extraordinary and exhilarating gift with every woman you encounter: The authentic Self is the Soul made visible."
Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy by Sarah Ban Breathnach was given to me by my dear friend Mimi as a graduation gift from Yoga Teacher Training. I am absolutely, positively in love with this book and I read it every morning before I do anything (except making warm salt water with lemon or coffee, depending on which side of the bed I woke up on). Simple Abundance was published in 1995 which always brings me back to a time that was exactly that - my simple and abundant childhood.
Simple Abundance is universally femininely truthful bringing a gentle sweetness to our perspective and daily life. It is a fantastic reminder of how wonderful the human experience can be, especially is you are one who appreciates "a woman's touch."
One hilarious note I dare not forget to mention...
I read some pages to my mother in hopes she would share in my blissful experience of Sarah's words and outlook on life. Her only comment was, "This must have been written by a stay at home mom."
This is a very direct and honest suggestion - as are most of my mother's suggestions - that Sarah Ban Breathnach, wife, mother, and author, may have had the luxury of favorable circumstances needed to create this joyfully comforting masterpiece. And for that, I will always be forever grateful.
"This book, containing 366 evocative essays for every day of the year, shows you how your daily life can be an expression of your authentic self... as you choose the tastiest vegetables from your garden, establish a sacred space for meditation, and follow the rhythm of the seasons. Here the mystical alchemy of style and Spirit is celebrated, and your true path leads to a happier and more fulfilling way of life."
It's simply abundantly amazing and you should read it.
